Trial, setup, and support experience

I started with the 14-day free trial to test out the Email Automation and Push Notifications. The signup process was quick, and I received an onboarding email with helpful links right away. Setting up my first few campaigns using the Visual Workflow Builder was quite intuitive, though I did have a question about integrating with a specific tool. I used their chat support, and a representative responded within a few minutes with a clear explanation and relevant documentation. The platform feels robust, and the deliverability tools seem effective. It gave me confidence to move forward with a paid plan.

Absolutely love the Journeys!

I just started using Customer.io and I'm blown away by the Journeys feature! Building multi-channel workflows is so intuitive and powerful. My campaigns are already seeing better engagement. I'm definitely going to recommend this to my colleagues and will be back for sure!

Easy to get started

I tried out the 14-day free trial for Customer.io's Email Automation. It was pretty straightforward to set up, even for someone like me who isn't super techy. Everything just made sense and worked as expected. It was a good experience overall.

Good value for annual billing

I was looking for a marketing platform and saw Customer.io offered 2 months free with annual billing. That's a solid 17% savings right there. The Startup Plan fit my needs perfectly and getting that discount made the decision easy. It felt like a smart purchase.

Thinking about integrating Customer.io with our website for better behavioral tracking and journey building. We're currently using a mix of basic email automation and some in-app messaging. Anyone using their Visual Workflow Builder extensively? How steep is the learning curve for someone new to it?

N NehaS 6 days ago ✓ Best Answer
The Visual Workflow Builder is pretty intuitive, honestly. If you've used any drag-and-drop interface before, you'll get the hang of it quickly. The real power comes from setting up your event-based triggers correctly and getting your customer segmentation right. That's where you spend most of your time.

P Pankaj87 6 days ago
Just start small with key user actions, don't try to track everything at once.
8
R RahulM 6 days ago
Yeah, event tracking seems key. Any tips for getting started with that part?

S SanjayR 6 days ago
We moved from Braze to Customer.io a few months ago, and I prefer the CI.io interface for journeys. Braze felt a bit clunkier. The Liquid Logic Personalization is also a huge plus for more complex, dynamic content.

M MeeraG 6 days ago
Good to know. We're considering a switch too.
2
S SanjayR 6 days ago
It wasn't too bad, their API integration made it smoother than expected for data transfer.
8
M MeeraG 6 days ago
Interesting comparison. Was the migration difficult? We're on Braze too.

K KiranL 6 days ago
The visual builder is good, but make sure your data pipelines are solid. Without clean, first-party data, even the best workflows won't perform. We spent a lot of time cleaning up our event data before we saw good results.
7
R RahulM 6 days ago
That's a fair point. Data quality always comes first.

Same here. GIGO applies even with fancy builders.

Just got hit with a higher renewal price for my Essentials plan. Anyone else seeing this? I thought I was on an annual deal.

S Sneha22 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
I switched to annual billing a while back and got 2 months free, so my renewal was actually a bit less than if I'd stayed monthly. Maybe check if that's an option for you?
15
A AmitM 1 month ago
Does that 2 months free apply to all plans, even Essentials?
6
P PriyaK 1 month ago
Good tip, Sneha! I'm on monthly right now, so that might be why it feels like such a jump.
6
R Rahul87 1 month ago
Yeah, mine jumped too. When I asked support, they said my initial 'startup credit' or promo pricing from when I first signed up had just ended. Kinda stings when you're not expecting it.
5
D Deepak91 1 month ago
Same thing happened to us. We were on a basic plan for a year and then the price went up by quite a bit.
2
P PriyaK 1 month ago
Oh, that makes sense. I did get a startup discount. Guess I should've checked the fine print more carefully.
3
V VikramG 1 month ago
Hmm, mine stayed the same. Are you sure you weren't on a trial that just converted? Or maybe you crossed a profile limit?
11
P PriyaK 1 month ago
I'm definitely not on a trial. Profile limit is a good thought, I'll check our usage stats.

Just got hit with my first Customer.io renewal notice, and the price jump from my initial startup plan is a bit jarring. Anyone else experience this? Trying to figure out if there are any options or if this is just how it goes after the intro period.

V VivekG 3 weeks ago ✓ Best Answer
I was able to negotiate a bit when my startup credit ran out by committing to an annual plan. Might be worth reaching out to their sales team directly and seeing if they can offer you the '2 months free with annual billing' deal or something similar. They sometimes have flexibility, especially if you've been a good customer.

S SameerP 3 weeks ago
Did you just email them or call? How much did you save?
5
R RohanS 3 weeks ago
Oh, that's a good tip! Didn't think about trying to negotiate directly. Thanks, Vivek!
5
V VivekG 3 weeks ago
I emailed my account manager. Got about 15% off the listed annual rate for the Essentials plan.
5
D Deepak77 3 weeks ago
Also, if you're a non-profit, they offer discounts. Not sure if that applies to you, but worth checking if you qualify.
12
R RohanS 3 weeks ago
Good point, but not a non-profit unfortunately.
3
P PriyaK 3 weeks ago
Yeah, that's pretty common for SaaS products. The startup credit is usually for a set period, then it rolls over to standard pricing. Did you check your contract or their pricing page for what the Essentials plan would cost without the discount?

A Anjali88 3 weeks ago
Following this, my startup plan is ending next quarter too.

R RohanS 3 weeks ago
I did, but it feels like a big jump. Was hoping there might be some promo codes for annual plans floating around.

Does Customer.io charge per user who logs in or per customer profile we have in the system? Trying to figure out costs for our team.

M Marcus 1 month ago
It's definitely per customer profile, not per user. So if you have 10,000 customers in your database, that's what drives the pricing tier, not how many people on your marketing team are logging in.
1
S Sophie A. 1 month ago
They charge based on the number of unique customer profiles you have. You can have multiple team members without extra cost. Just watch your profile count!

Just getting started with our startup, is there some kind of special pricing for new companies? Like a big discount for the first year or something?

C Cleo Lindqvist 2 months ago
Yep, they have a startup program! I got a pretty sweet discount for my first year, I think it was like 90% off or something wild. You usually have to apply for it though, not just automatically given.
6
O Omar 2 months ago
Yeah, check out their site for the startup credit details. It's not a promo code you just type in, you gotta go through their process. Totally worth it though for the savings.

Hey, thinking about trying out Customer.io but wondering if they do any special deals for Black Friday or Cyber Monday? Or is it mostly just the free trial kind of thing?

S Sarah Okafor 2 months ago
From what I remember, they mostly push the 14-day free trial. I don't think I've ever seen a specific Cyber Monday coupon code from them, it's more about the annual billing discount or startup credits.

S Sarah A. 2 months ago
Yeah, I signed up last year around that time and didn't see anything crazy. They do have that 2 months free if you pay annually though, which is pretty good.

Anyone know if Customer.io is generally better than Klaviyo for a small e-commerce brand? We're sending a lot of transactional emails but also want to get into more behavior-based stuff.

E Elena Doyle 1 month ago
I've used both. CIO is definitely more powerful for complex journeys and custom events. Klaviyo is super easy to get started with for e-commerce, but CIO gives you way more control over your data and segmentation. It's a bit steeper learning curve but worth it if you want to get really granular.
4
B Brett 1 month ago
For transactional stuff and deep behavioral tracking, CIO is probably the winner. Klaviyo is great for quick e-commerce wins but CIO feels more like a long-term, scalable solution if your needs get complex.

Thinking of moving over to Customer.io from an older email platform. Mostly interested in the Journeys and Liquid Logic personalization. Anyone made a similar switch recently? How was the setup?

N NikhilS 2 weeks ago ✓ Best Answer
We did this about 6 months ago from Mailchimp. The visual workflow builder for Journeys is a game-changer, seriously intuitive. Liquid logic took a bit of getting used to, but it's super powerful once you get the hang of it. Setup was smoother than I expected, their docs are pretty good.
5
T techfreak 2 weeks ago
Mailchimp is exactly what we're on! Good to hear it was a smooth transition. Any specific integration gotchas?
4
G gamerraj 2 weeks ago
Did you use their API integration much during the setup?
7
R RahulK 2 weeks ago
We're on the Enterprise plan, so our setup was probably a bit different with dedicated support, but the Data Pipelines feature was key for us. It really helped consolidate everything. Don't underestimate the power of good first-party data management.
8
T techfreak 2 weeks ago
Enterprise sounds serious! We're probably looking at Essentials or Premium. Did you get a demo before committing?
3
P PoojaR 2 weeks ago
I'm still in the free trial phase, playing around with it. The segmentation capabilities are really impressive compared to what I'm used to. It feels like it's built for deeper personalization. Still figuring out the A/B testing part though.
11
C coolboy88 2 weeks ago
Is the 14-day free trial enough to really get a feel for the complex features like multi-channel workflows?

Following this, also curious about the A/B testing depth.
